They were big mansions, some with 100 rooms. A big fire went through here and most of the ones that survived have been converted to hotels or something other than residences. We walked the main street, which is loaded with shops and restaurants like a beach community. Lots of ice cream stores for the summer crowds. Many shops were closed and the remainder would close for the winter next week. We took a 30 minute bus tour of the town and when we returned, it was pouring. We ran across the street to a restaurant and had great snack of clam chowder, lobster, and wild blueberry pie. The ship departed around 2 pm for Halifax, and the rest of the afternoon was pretty subdued. We had bubbly and went to a lecture about the Canadian maritime provinces. Dinner was with a very nice couple from Santa Barbara, and again ended in the bar with “white Niles”….
